The present invention provides a flexible digital display retractable into a portable housing. Electronic components are contained within the housing to provide for portable storage, viewing and markup of digital documents, such as full-size architectural drawings, on the digital display device.

In a mirror with a non-reflective portion provided within its reflective mirror surface as an information provider the portion is transparent and is backed by a display. The display has a moving image or has a colored image representation. Preferably at least one loudspeaker is connected to the display behind the mirror surface. That loudspeaker can also be connected to an input device.

An article for mounting from or against the ceiling is removably coupled to a base fixedly secured to the ceiling, by a person standing on the floor, supporting the article on an elongated rod, and thrusting the article against the base to couple the article and the secured base. A large size display is transportable, being construed of multiple rigid segments containing light emitting diodes (LED's). The rigid segments are linked by hinges or cables so the display is flexible and can be rolled up for storage and transport. The display can be unrolled upward or downwards such as from a protective container, such as a canister or truss. The weight of the display on the linked hinges or the tensioned cables provides sufficient rigidity. Such cables, like a signal and power distribution bus, are connected to the rear of each rigid element. The display can be repaired by removing and replacing selected rigid segments from the front thereof.

If the volume of users is appropriate for synchronized advertisements and video games, then the billboard network manager displays the synchronized advertisements and video games, and continues to track the volume of the users in the area. If the volume of users is not appropriate for synchronized advertisements and video games, then the billboard network management reconfigures synchronized billboard content for more appropriate advertisements and video games by one of randomly changing a content, and propagating and extending through synchronized billboards a particular content of some billboard section that brought more interest from the users.

The present invention discloses a roll-type flexible device for displaying, comprising: a body housing in which a flexible display portion is accommodated so as to be wound and unwound; a length adjusting member, which is mounted on the body housing for maintaining the flexible display portion in an unrolled state, and which has an extendable structure by being linked to the unwinding of the flexible display portion; and a fixing member for fixing the extended length of the length adjusting member.

Modules include paper-like displays, a wireless port, solar panels, battery packs and a frame. A network of such modular signs is placed within an outdoor area. A wireless station is provided with satellite link for receiving data where said data is presented as scheduled on the electronic paper-like display modules. Solar panel and / or battery pack modules power the displays. The outdoor modular sign is suitable for deployment in parking lots and other outdoor areas where a network of signs can be deployed in close proximity to each other providing engaging advertisement and messages to consumers walking through the defined outdoor areas.

The dual mode stability of the spring eliminates the need for complex latching mechanisms thereby simplifying the device manufacture and device reliability. The spring is stable in either a linear or coiled state enabling the simplified design of rolling, hinging and feeding mechanisms. A plan or map rolling and presentation device incorporates a bi-stable snap action ribbon spring along with optional spring end caps and stiffening elements. A light-emitting display system has an alignment mechanism to align or angle light-emitting tiles of the display. A first tile connects to a second tile by joining a first clamp portion on the first tile with a second clamp portion on the second tile. In an implementation, the alignment mechanism includes a replaceable angle adjustment insert that is inserted into at least one of the clamp portions, such as the first clamp portion. When the first and second clamp portions are joined, a surface of the second clamp portion presses against the insert and a desired angle between the first and second tile is formed. The insert can have any angle so that any desired angle can be formed between the first and second tiles.
