A method of and system for locating a targeted region in a patient uses a CT imaging subsystem and a radiotherapy subsystem arranged so the targeted region can be imaged with the imaging system and treated with a beam of therapeutic X-ray radiation using a radiotherapy subsystem. The beam of therapeutic X-rays is in a plane that is substantially fixed relative to, and preferably coplanar with, a slice plane of the CT imaging subsystem so that the targeted region can be imaged during a planning phase, and imaged and exposed to the therapeutic X-rays during the treatment phase without the necessity of moving the patient.

A fractional treatment comprises: obtaining fractional image data pertaining to a region of interest of the subject; performing a fractional optimization of a radiation treatment plan to determine optimized values of one or more radiation delivery variables based at least in part on the fractional image data; and delivering a fraction of the radiation treatment plan to the region of interest using the optimized values of the one or more radiation delivery variables as one or more corresponding parameters of the radiation treatment plan. A portion of performing the fractional optimization overlaps temporally with a portion of at least one of: obtaining the fractional image data and delivering the fraction of the radiation treatment plan.

A method for automatically determining the 3D position and orientation of a radio-opaque medical object in a living body using single-plane fluoroscopy comprising capturing a stream of digitized 2D images from a single-plane fluoroscope (10), detecting the image of the medical object in a subset of the digital 2D images, applying pixel-level geometric calculations to measure the medical-object image, applying conical projection and radial elongation corrections (31) to the image measurements, and calculating the 3D position and orientation of the medical object from the corrected 2D image measurements.

The present invention relates to a method and a device for imaging during interventional or surgical procedures. In said method 2D fluoroscopy images (14a, 14b) of an area under examination are recorded by means of an X-ray fluoroscopy system and registered with previously recorded 3D image data (13) of the area under examination. The method is characterized in that two 2D fluoroscopy images (14a, 14b) are recorded in each case from a stereoscopic perspective as a 2D image pair, two 2D rendering images corresponding to the stereoscopic perspective of the 2D image pair are computed from the 3D image data (13), and the 2D image pair and the 2D rendering images are displayed stereoscopically as an overlay. The method and the device permit improved orientation for the operator in the area under examination.

A method for forming a 3-D facial model obtains a reconstructed radiographic image volume of a patient and extracts a soft tissue surface of the patient's face from the image volume and forms a dense point cloud of the extracted surface. Reflection images of the face are acquired using a camera, wherein each reflection image has a different corresponding camera angle with respect to the patient. Calibration data is calculated for one or more of the reflection images. A sparse point cloud corresponding to the reflection images is formed by processing the reflection images using multi-view geometry. The sparse point cloud is registered to the dense point cloud and a transformation calculated between reflection image texture data and the dense point cloud. The calculated transformation is applied for mapping texture data from the reflection images to the dense point cloud to form a texture-mapped volume image that is displayed.

A method for measuring geometric quantities intrinsic to an anatomical system of a patient, based on two stereoscopic images. Registration data are received on each of the two stereoscopic images. By using geometric calibration information, a three-dimensional geometric primitive is determined defined by at least a portion of the received registration data. Based on the three-dimensional geometric primitive, a value of geometric quantity intrinsic to the anatomical system is computed.

There is provided a panoramic imaging apparatus which serves as a radiation imaging apparatus. The panoramic imaging apparatus includes an X-ray tube radiating an X-ray as a radiation, a detector outputting digital-quantity frame data corresponding to an incident X-ray, and moving means moving the pair of X-ray tube and the detector relatively to an object. The apparatus further includes means for acquiring the frame data from the detector during movement of the X-ray tube and the detector, and means for optimally focusing a portion being imaged of the object using the acquired data and producing a three-dimensional optimally focused image in which the real size and shape of the portion being imaged are reflected.

The generating unit generates three-dimensional information expressing positions of the lesions in a three-dimensional space. The accepting unit accepts a designation of an observation direction. The preparing unit prepares a first image for a right eye and a second image for a left eye. The first and second images are at a predetermined parallax angle when observing the lesions from the observation direction. The control unit controls an image display unit that displays the first image for the right eye and the second image for the left eye.
