Disclosed are an efficient electric defrost device for a refrigerator, and a method thereof, belonging to the defrost field. In the device, a compressor, an oil separator, a condenser, a filter and a regenerator are connected in sequence through 
pipe flanges, and the regenerator is then connected with the compressor through a 
pipe flange; the regenerator, a 
solenoid valve, an expansion valve and a coil 
pipe are connected through pipe thread; the coil pipe is connected with a gas collecting pipe through 
welding; the gas collecting pipe is connected with the regenerator through a pipe 
flange; the gas collecting pipe is bound with a temperature controller; fins are inserted in the coil pipe and an 
electric heating pipe; a return 
air door is arranged on an 
enclosure box; a blower, the coil pipe, the fins, the 
electric heating pipe, the gas collecting pipe, the temperature controller and a temperature 
bulb B are arranged inside the 
enclosure box which is connected with a 
water discharge pipe through thread; and the 
electric heating pipe, the temperature controller, a controller, a protector and the 
solenoid valve are electrically connected. The method comprises the following steps: the device jumps off at 8 DEG C and gets resetted at 3 DEG C; the 
solenoid valve is closed in the 
refrigeration and defrost 
delay time, then the blower stops, while the compressor and the condenser start to work; the 
refrigerant enters into the condenser for 
cold storage; the return 
air door is closed; the electric heating pipe is electrified for 
defrosting in a set defrost time; the 
water discharge time is set; and the return 
air door is opened for 
refrigeration. The device is used for 
defrosting, which is energy-saving and highly efficient.
