Disclosed is a variable vapor barrier for moisture control of buildings comprising or formed from a material having a moisture permeance of less than 0.1 perms (grains / h·ft2·inches of Hg) at less than 50% average humidity, such as from 10 to 50% or 20 to 40%; and a moisture permeance greater than 4, or greater than 10 perms at greater than 60% average humidity, such as from 60 to 90%, or 70 to 80%. Also disclosed are articles comprising the variable vapor barrier and methods of their use.

A syngas cleanup section includes a water-gas shift reactor, a first operation unit and a second operation unit. The first operation unit includes a high permeance membrane with H2 / CO2 selectivity in flow communication with the water-gas shift reactor to provide a H2-rich permeate stream and an H2-poor retentate stream. The second operation unit recovers H2 and CO from the retentate stream to produce a single, CO2-rich product stream, the entire content of which has a minimum pressure of at least about 10.0 bar. A faced building insulation assembly includes a first facing forming a first major surface of the assembly with a central field portion having one or more spunbond continuous polymeric filament mat layers. The present invention discloses new types of poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimer-cross-linked polyimide membranes and methods for making and using these membranes. The membranes are prepared by cross-linking of asymmetric aromatic polyimide membranes using a PAMAM dendrimer as the cross-linking agent. The PAMAM-cross-linked polyimide membranes showed significantly improved selectivities for CO2 / CH4 compared to a comparable uncrosslinked polyimide membrane. The water vapor permeance resistant silicone sealant has the advantages of effectively inhibiting the permeance of water vapor (the permeance rate of the water vapor is less than 1), improving the flame resistance, producing no monomer separation phenomenon in the curing process and after curing, and having ideal weather resistance and corrosion resistance. The recommended manufacture method has simple process, few requirements on technique and equipment, and causes no pollution to the environment in the preparing process.

The membrane is made by forming a palladium layer, depositing a layer of copper on the palladium layer, and galvanically displacing a portion of the copper with palladium.
