The invention relates to mountainous 
upland rice and a planting method thereof. The planting method comprises the following steps of land selection and preparation: selecting a land with sunny 
exposure and good leeward as a planting land, turning soil and ploughing deeply, compartment construction and 
fertilizer application: constructing compartments on the planting land, setting a 
fertilizer groove between every two compartments, and then applying 
fertilizer in the fertilizer grooves, ridging and film covering: ridging on the fertilizer grooves and then covering films on 
ridge surfaces, seeding: 
punching and seeding at a fixed distance on the 
ridge surfaces covered with the films, and when the daily average temperature is above 8-10 DEG C for three days continuously, 
sowing the 
upland rice, and then, field management. The mountainous 
upland rice planting method is especially suitable for upland rice microfilm covering 
thermal insulation cultivation in a mountainous area which is 1000-2500 meters above 
sea level, and effectively breaks the history of no upland rice planting in the mountainous area which is more than 1000 meters above the 
sea level; the 
advantage is fully used that the 
temperature difference between day and night is large, and therefore the 
organic matter accumulation for kernel crops such as 
starch is facilitated, and finally, paddy which is high in rice rate, good in rice quality, organic and green, and good in quality is obtained.
