The invention relates to a magnetic 
activated carbon preparation method, in particular to a magnetically-separable 
activated carbon composite material and a preparation method thereof. The magnetically-separable 
activated carbon composite material is formed by 
compositing of activated carbon particles and a magnetic 
particle material, and activated carbon separation and extraction can be realizedby the aid of an external 
magnetic field. The method includes steps: step one, performing activated carbon extraction and 
surface modification; step two, taking activated carbon as a carrier to prepare two or more types of 
metal salt solutions according to certain proportions; step three, adding a certain quantity of 
citric acid, well mixing, dropwise adding 
ammonium hydroxide to adjust a pH value, and well stirring; step four, forming gel at a certain temperature; step five, 
sintering under shielding of 
nitrogen; step six, magnetically separating, washing and 
drying. The magnetically-separable activated carbon 
composite material and the preparation method thereof have advantages that the adsorption performance of 
bamboo charcoal is unaffected by loading of a small quantity of magnetic materials while 
magnetism of the activated carbon particles is realized, and separation and 
recovery of the activated carbon can be realized through the external 
magnetic field after adsorption of harmful impurities in 
sewage.
